The floor looked nice today. Tiled, waxed, and buffed. Fractals of light shifted along the pale surface, only being disrupted by cement grooves.
It deafened the hymns of all the other kids. A distraction. Every time a heel moved forth, another receding it would follow in pursuit. Bodies moved, we moved, all in unison. Like a hoard of marching elephants, dozens of bodies marched to the back of this sunlit room. That’s where food waited.
But unlike an array of elephants, plenty people ‘cut’ the line. Order? It hardly mattered in the thick of Cacophony’s reign. This was freedom. This was free game! Virtually no rules, virtually no teachers; it was a nest of hormonal teenagers!
Idiots. This wasn’t freedom. This was a feeding pen. A taming centre. “We provide you with foods and drinks and temperature satisfaction.” So like an obedient dog that learnt to trot alongside his master (thanks to plenty of treats), everyone remained. After all, it was safe. It was “fun.”
Both hands rose. One clutched at the opposing hip, whilst the other cradled a resting face. Stop. No more thinking. Just keep walking. Fetch the food. Then sit down. Eat in silence.
But then a voice – crisper and clearer than all the rest – penetrated through this one’s meditation. Curiously, a blue eye peered past parting digits to see the source of sound: it was a boy. Dangerously orange and face sickeningly bright. It’s all fake. Well… maybe not that ginger crop. With an agitated huff, the raven haired fellow released his clutch and stood up tall, nice and straight. He then averted his gaze – completely ignoring the other boy.
Truth be told: he just hadn’t heard what the other had said.
Kennedy Donovan: Hope it's okay. A lot of internal biznazz before meeting his fighter, basically. ^^; ♡

It was lunchtime! Which was quite possibly one of the little redhead’s favorite times of day. He always had fun with his friends at lunch, and sometimes he even made new friends. There was no limit to the possibilities for a kid as extroverted as Kennedy happened to be. He adored making friends and finding things out about people. Who even cared if every single ounce of warmth in his smile was feigned – no one seemed to notice. Though perhaps that was because they hadn’t seen him smile at Cal yet. Well, he didn’t plan on ever letting that happen anyway. He wasn’t about to let everyone else find out how fake he was, that would simply ruin all of his fun, really. Besides, he wasn’t hurting anyone. He was just having fun. They were having fun. He couldn’t see the harm in it. His orange eyes scanned the cafeteria as he stepped inside. Kennedy was a rather short and small child, but he was never overlooked, stepped on, or bumped into. With his bright hair and loud antics it was impossible to miss the fact that he was there, and that was how he liked it. His family always ignored him when he was at home, and he refused to allow it to happen at school too. This was his chance, and he wasn’t going to waste it. However, before he had the chance to pick out any of his friends, his eyes would land on a certain snowy haired individual. Let’s be honest here, though. It wasn’t the hair that caught his attention so much as it was the mask that the older male was wearing. What was up with that, exactly? Since Kennedy didn’t seem to suffer from any amount of shyness or sensitivity, he cut everyone in the line until he reached the male that had peaked his interest. “Hey there~” He greeted, smiling brightly. He didn’t have to wait for long before he realized he either hadn’t been heard or he was being ignored. His smile didn’t waver even as the tiniest bit of annoyance bubbled in his stomach. “Hey!” He said again, reaching forward to tug on the taller male’s sleeve. "DON'T EVER FORGET ME, DON'T EVER ERASE ME"

“Mask off, Mister Lorne.” It was a simple command – one by a passing adult. Where dangerous-Red had been diligently missed, the words of a teacher were heeded – and obeyed. Hooked fingers tugged that comedic mask down so that it coiled around a limber neck, and rested.
That very teacher jogged by the school of students to get his own “grub on.” Cutting everyone… What a jerk.
As the line seemed stuck (thanks to a certain someone), this little raven shifted his hips to stand in contrapposto. One-two-three… By the time blasé eyes reached the tenth person ahead, another “hey!” chirruped. So a set of blues lazily swayed to look at a boisterous pair. Sigh . It’s just ‘Red’ again: “what do you want?” Just as he asked, the line moved another body along.

The redhead watched with a rapt attention (that his teachers never got) as that mask was removed. What was to be found underneath was not a disappointment. That scar looked like it had to have been painful back in the day. He averted his gaze after a few seconds, though. While he seemed incapable of any sort of empathy he did know how to at least feign it – not that this guy deserved such a thing if he insisted on ignoring him. Kennedy hated being ignored, he hated is so very much. Finally, though, the older boy decided to respond to him. Orange eyes held those blue ones with ease. Kennedy was a small person, yes, but it took quite a bit to intimidate or scare him. “I just wanted to say hi.” He stated, taking a step forward with the rest of the people. “You look kinda lonely over here all by yourself.” The warm grin on his features made it seem as though he was simply a kind person who wanted to give someone else some attention or something. That would be false, though. Kennedy wanted the white-haired male’s attention. He didn’t give a damn about him, truthfully, though. "DON'T EVER FORGET ME, DON'T EVER ERASE ME"

‘Is this kid for real?’ An inscrutable – albeit bored – gaze loomed upon that pallid countenance. Those features seemed practiced. That thin-lipped smile. That glimmer in complimentary eyes. Tsk. ‘But what I do know? Everyone seemed fake. Their smiles, their happiness, their connection all feigned out of politeness. With a haughty huff, this one couldn’t help but roll irritable eyes.
“Ugh. I hate that sappy B.S..” crowed he, “Look, kid: you wanna talk to me? Then buy me lunch and come find me. Otherwise: just piss off.” And with another scoff, he skulked out of line – leaving Red behind with no more than nonchalant wave. He went to sit by the windows – basked in sunlight.
Kennedy Donovan: either we can end it here or Kennedy can come by with food. (; ♡

He didn’t have to wait long for a response, though it wasn’t exactly the response that he wanted. Most people didn’t treat him like that, and quite frankly it pissed him off just a little bit. In the short moments he had spent talking to him, the older male had made him angrier than most people usually ever managed to. No, usually the only thing that made him so angry was when someone else was talking to Cal. He didn’t speak a word as the other left, and he stayed in line, weighing his options. He could just pretend it never happened, but that wasn’t in Kennedy’s nature. It simply wasn’t. So he would go through the line, and get enough food for two people. Once he’d made it through the line, he walked over to the other and placed the food in front of him before he sat down. He left a comfortable enough distance between them. “Since I bought you lunch, does that make this a date?” He questioned, cocking an eyebrow as he forked some mac and cheese and brought it to his mouth. Despite the playful question, his tone was rather cold. Dammit. "DON'T EVER FORGET ME, DON'T EVER ERASE ME"

She said this and he said that. They did this and the others didn’t give back. Honestly, it was a relief when Red sat down beside him. Glorious food – chicken burgers slobbered with ketchup all over. An over production of saliva practically made Cinthos’ yearning mouth seep.
Alas, upon lifting that stiff breaded paddy up to a gaping mouth, he managed not to get his bodily fluids all over himself and the table. Teeth sunk down and tore that baby apart. Mmm… If it wasn’t for Red’s witty remark, his existence would’ve been completely forgotten. In fact, the adverse effect happened:
Cheeks reddened. Chews slowed (so as not to choke). And eyes rolled. Stare. Forcing a swallow, the older boy managed scoff (though not without eyebrows twitching): “Is that your way of asking me out? Because you’re pretty shitty at it.” A defensive scowl bore. Cinthos put his paddy down and rummaged his pockets for some coin. Seven rolled Red’s way. “Guess you can’t call it a date now.”

He watched out of the corner of his eye as the older boy took a rather large bite of his burger. He honestly hadn’t expected his words to cause that blush, and if he hadn’t trained himself to control his facial expressions long ago he would have smirked. There were certain people whom he knew saying things like that to would get that kind of reaction, but this guy? He didn’t seem like the type. He also didn’t seem to have liked it one little bit. Good. That’s what he got for being an asshole when Kenny was trying to be nice. “No.” He stated, grabbing the coins fluidly as they rolled his way. He would pocket them thereafter. “If I wanted to ask you out, I would come right out and do it. I’m not one of those pansy beat around the bush kind of guys.” He raised one orange eyebrow before he forked some more mac and cheese and brought it to his mouth. “Sides, you were the one who asked me to buy it.” He went on, finally picking up his own sandwich and taking a much smaller bite of it than the other had. Kenny was a small dude, he simply didn’t eat a lot. He wasn’t used to eating a lot. Everyone in his house back at home came first when it came to dinner, sometimes he wasn’t even called down at all. Too much food tended to make him sick, anyway. "DON'T EVER FORGET ME, DON'T EVER ERASE ME"
