somebody get me through this nightmare i can't control myself The park was empty, barren, desolate, devoid of human life. Thick, fat snowflakes fluttered down from a gray sky. There was already a dusting of snow on the ground, disrupted only by the male’s footprints as he walked down the path that lead through the park. His fingers ran lightly over the phone that was to be found in his pocket. A gift from his aunt. His father could never have afforded it, and wouldn’t have given it to him even if he could. Not that he cared. He could have gone without the thing, really. He had went without one up until last year anyway, and a certain fighter was always blowing it up. Upon thinking of her, his other hand rose to the top of his head. Some of the snow that had settled in his hair melted at his touch. Not having his ears was weird, and he wasn’t sure if he liked it. Maybe he should have gotten some fake ones. The gossip surrounding the damn things was ridiculous anyway.
He sighed heavily and shoved the hand back into his pocket. He hunched his shoulders slightly, enjoying the feeling of the wool as it rubbed over his neck. This wasn’t his favorite jacket, but that one was currently dirty, so there was nothing he could do about it. This one wasn’t bad anyway, the wool just wasn’t as soft. He breathed out as his fingers found the volume buttons on the side of his phone to turn his music up a bit. His breath misted instantly on the air. It was cold, but at least that meant no one was going to be in the park today. A break from people was exactly what he needed. He got so tired of being around those people all the time. Those airheaded people who cared more about whether or not he had ears than their grades. Not that he was an exemplary student himself, but he was better than them.
After a bit he stepped off the path and leaned up against a tree. His hands moved around in his pockets until he produced a cigarette and lighter. He wasn’t stupid enough to try smoking on campus – he wasn’t about to get sent back to Britain over something like that, but it was a habit he had picked up roughly a year ago and it was one he was having a lot of trouble kicking. It was hard to maintain, and bad for him besides, and yet he kept it up. He couldn’t tell you why, really. He wouldn’t admit he was addicted to anything. He placed the cigarette between his lips, cupping the lighter against the wind as he flicked the fire into being. He took a drag and sighed softly, leaning his head back against the tree. This was nice. It was quiet. Perhaps he felt just a little too alone, but he couldn’t have everything.

you get yours & I'll get mine, then we run out of time. You're the only one that I desire 'cause I love to play with fire. Balthazar Ackerman Remy truly couldn't say what it was. Maybe it was the snow. Maybe it was the fact that she was finally all alone with her thoughts and therefore could think about what was going on with her life. Maybe it was that it was during this time last year that everything went down. Regardless of what it was, she couldn't stop thinking about the sacrifice of Endless. Oh, the irony of such a name. Endless. Wasn't it supposed to mean forever? At the very least, she knew it wasn't supposed to mean six feet under, wrapped in velvet and a nice wooden box. It was supposed to be unending. The vulnerability and guilt was eating the fighter alive, and there was absolutely nothing she could do to shoo it away. It just kept lapping at her like waves at her feet; like fire in her veins. These emotions weren't things that the overbearing woman often dealt with, and they were leaving her in a confused spiral. How she got to Hyde park was entirely beyond her. The brunette had just tried to go on a walk to get her thoughts together; decided that maybe she'd find someone, that she could clear her head and pull herself together. Maybe she'd be able to bury these sick ideas that it was all her fault even though there was absolutely nothing she could have done to protect her old sacrifice. Violently, the girl would shake her head, trying to throw those thoughts away, and would give a sign when they wouldn't go, a cloud of breath rising from her. She hadn't realized how cold out it was before and her thin jacket just wasn't cutting it. Digging through her pocket, Remy's fingers would curl around her phone and she'd stop to consider what she was doing for a moment before finally pulling it out and sending a few texts to her living sacrifice. She could keep him alive. She'd protect him at any cost. >> bossman?>> hey bossman?>> balt?>> hey, where r u?It was an understatement to say that she was irritatingly clingy at times, having sent all of those texts in the past five minutes or so, but she just didn't want to be alone. At least with him around, she wasn't haunted by any ghouls or ghosts or guilt. Everything was in the moment and safe in it's own strange way, regardless of Balthazar's aggressive outbursts. It was almost seemed like fate when Remy caught sight of footprints in the snow and decided to follow after them. Maybe it wasn't the safest choice, being alone in the middle of the forest, following unknown footprints, but it seemed better than loneliness at the moment, so she'd take it. When a familiar presence was seen on the horizon, the fighter knew she'd picked the right choice. It wouldn't take her long to catch up with her sacrifice, the previously conflicted expression on her face replaced with something much more upbeat and perky- something way more Remy- and she'd move to his side in a flash, her nose crinkling at the cigarette and the smell of smoke blown towards her in the wind. Without thinking, her hand would rise for a moment before she considered what she was actually doing, and it would freeze there for just a second before falling back to her side. She couldn't just take it from Balt! Not even for a second. Not even if it was just while she planted a quick kiss on his cheek. Nope, she'd just need to tough it out and give him a peck on the cheek with it still there. It wasn't that bad. She'd live. At least she wasn't alone any more. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

somebody get me through this nightmare i can't control myself He could feel his phone buzzing in his pocket, and he knew who it was without looking. He was pretty sure no one else even had his number, though sometimes people managed to get ahold of it. Either way, he was certain that the person who was blowing his phone up happened to be none other than Remy. Her clinginess was nothing new to him, though it wasn’t welcome either. His last fighter had been almost equally as clingy, though not quite as assertive. Perhaps he should have felt guilt when he thought back on the girl. He knew Remy felt guilt over her last partner and she hadn’t even played any sort of part in his death. Balthazar didn’t like him, even if he was dead. The fact that the brunette wouldn’t let him cross ‘endless’ off of her thigh meant that he was still too important to her. As far as the raven-haired male was concerned Remy should have forgotten her old partner the second they had been paired. That clearly wasn’t happening though. Perhaps that was part of the reason why he could be cruel to her at times, but Balthazar had never been a particularly kind or warm individual in any situation.
He leaned his head back against the tree, tipping it up to looking into the branches. They were completely bare with a bit of snow clinging to them. He guessed they were pretty, but he had seen so much snow and ice in his life that he was hardly moved by anything having to do with it anymore. He puffed out some air, releasing some of the smoke that had been captured in his lungs. In a way it looked exactly like a normal puff of air in these temperatures. Of course, the cigarette that had been placed back between his lips made it rather obvious that that wasn’t the case. Whatever, it wasn’t like there was anyone –
The soft crunch of the snow under her feet was the first thing that alerted him to the fact that she was approaching. Of course, before he looked he hadn’t known it was her, but somehow he’d felt like it was. Somehow it seemed like Remy had the uncanny ability to find him no matter where he was. He wondered if she was stalking him, but it wasn’t like it mattered if she was anyway. He had bound them for life the second he carved ‘bloodless’ across her shoulders as far as he was concerned. She was a good partner, anyway, as far as the battles went. She could definitely stand to be a little – or a lot – less clingy, but he’d known how she was before he went through with it. It wasn’t like he had went into the thing blind or anything like that.
He tilted his head down to look at her after she had crossed the distance between them. Remy was not at all short for a girl and that had been one of the things he had liked about her initially. She wasn’t weak and wispy. She was much better suited for his partner than the one fate had chosen, or however that worked. Either way, as the brunette raised her hand, the taller male flinched. His hand twitched as he resisted the urge to grab her wrist. Remy wasn’t going to hit him, she wouldn’t dare, but the fucking flinch had come of its own accord either way. God dammit. He scowled a bit as he grabbed the cigarette between his fingers and removed it from his mouth, flicking the ashes away from them before allowing his hand to rest at his side. “Hullo." He grunted, raising an eyebrow.

you get yours & I'll get mine, then we run out of time. You're the only one that I desire 'cause I love to play with fire. Balthazar Ackerman When Balthazar flinched, Remy could practically hear her heart shatter into a thousand pieces. It wasn't his fault- she understood knee-jerk reactions, even if she didn't know the specifics of what brought this one to be-, and she knew that Balt knew she that wouldn't hit him. That didn't change the fact that it hurt to see them react like that when she wanted nothing but the best for him. Hadn't she just internally vowed to protect Balt from anything? The fact that he winced from her own movement was rather ironic in the absolutely worst way. It hurt. The cigarette would be pulled from between his lips, Balt would speak, and his fighter would pull herself together. This wouldn't be brought into a conversation. She'd act like she hadn't seen a thing. Remy wouldn't dare do anything to possibly hurt his pride- besides, it wasn't her place to pry. She'd accept their partnership for what it was happily with no questions asked. No need to complicate things more than they already were, now was there? With the cigarette no longer potentially blowing smoke directly into her face, the brunette would lean in for a quick kiss, smiling brightly. She wouldn't let on that there was an issue. It didn't matter that she was a bit offended. It wasn't exactly like Balt flinched on purpose. She couldn't just cause a scene over it. It wasn't his fault. It didn't matter that she was upset. It never would. "Hey bossman!" Affection was dripping off of the fighter's words. She'd grimace down at the cigarette once more, "Those things'll kill ya, you know." Of course he knew, but she felt the need to say it for some ungodly reason. Remy wasn't exactly known for her social tact, after all. When things popped into her head, she just... tended to say them. Not her best trait. It left her incredibly tactless. However, it also left her extremely genuine in everything she did... and a horrible liar. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

somebody get me through this nightmare i can't control myself He stared at his fighter a little harder, his eyes narrowing slightly. He felt slightly like something was wrong, but her features seemed to twist back to normal so quickly that he couldn’t put his finger on it. It wouldn’t occur to him to think that his flinch had hurt her. Why would she care if he flinched? No matter how much she said it, no matter how much she insisted she cared about him and wanted to keep him safe, the raven-haired male wouldn’t believe it. Well, more like he couldn’t believe it. No one had ever taken care of him, he didn’t need anyone to take care of him. Ever.
He closed his eyes slightly as she leaned in to kiss him, returning the gesture at least a little bit. He wasn’t sure how it made him feel. Everything about it was weird, different, and new. He didn’t know if he liked it or not, but he did allow it, so somewhere deep inside he had to like it at least a little bit. It was all just terribly confusing to him, really. He had never felt anything remotely similar to the way she made him feel sometimes before, and it had come on so suddenly. He still didn’t know what to do with it.
That affectionate greeting was returned with a rather blank face. Funny how Remy was supposedly the blank, but Balthazar was the one who acted blank more often than not. What even were facial expressions? It would be easy to assume the only one he knew was a scowl, really. “Lots of things will kill me.” He stated, taking the last drag of the cigarette before flicking it off to the side. “I could’ve slipped on some ice, knocked myself out, and froze to death on my way here. Are you going to tell me I shouldn’t walk anymore either?” He raised his eyebrows. “Ya know what else kills people? Drinking.” Despite his toneless voice, the implication was clear. Balthazar hated drinking and everything to do with it, he really did.
