PERSONALITY |
POSITIVE Warmhearted Tobias is a kind soul and had you not known any better, you might think he doesn't even have a mean bone in his body. He's very sympathetic and caring, often going out of his way to help others, even at the cost of his own well-being. He's the kind of guy who's shoulder you can lean on and the one know that you can rely with just about anything. Loyal In hand with his kind nature, Toby is a very devoted young man who's loyalty is more than just support. He's incredibly faithful to anything and anyone deserving of his loyalty and would fight to the depths of hell just to stand up for it, no matter what might stand before him. Confident Not to be mistaken as arrogance, Toby is very self-assured and it's almost impossible to make him doubt himself (..almost). He's very bold in his ways, never one to shy away from anything. The same goes for others he trusts, being confident in himself and others that things will go successfully. Ambitious Obvious by how much he pushes himself, Toby has a strong desire to succeed and in this case, wants to become stronger. However, because of this he can sometimes be too hard on himself, often pushing too far over his own limits and becomes easily frustrated with himself in such instances. No matter how bad it gets though, he's not one to stop fighting so you can knock him over all you like but he'll always get back up. Forgiving As aggressive as he's capable of being, when it all boils down to it, Toby hardly ever holds a grudge and even if he were, forgiveness can be almost too easy to achieve. As long as you show you are truly deserving of it, showing remorse and a desire to change, he'll give you a second chance. While it can be tempting to take advantage of this, keep in mind that even he has his limits. LIKES Living for the moment What's the point in worrying about the future when you can have fun now? He tends to use it as an excuse for his reckless behavior but he truly means it. Showing off Who doesn't? Of course, it's hard to do this when people are far more concerned with you staying healthy (or alive for that matter) but that doesn't stop him from trying anyway! Too bad not everyone is as interested in his skills as he is. Taking risks Yeah it can be dangerous, and even the tiniest thing can make it all go horribly wrong, but the chance of success makes it all the more worth it in his mind. People should take more risks as far as he's concerned. Flattery Don't act surprised! It's not too often that he gets praised (since he does it more than enough for himself) and when it does happen, he practically becomes a purring kitten. It's the easiest way to win him over, honestly, and has been taken advantage of far too often to count. Adventure! Toby is still a kid at heart and as such, enjoys the thrill of a good adventure. He likes to travel and explore new things (even though most of the time they are only new too him). Wanna get him excited? Offer to take him out to town and he'll practically drag you around. | NEGATIVE Stubborn Perhaps his key trait is being hardheaded. Once Tobias has something in his head, it's incredibly difficult (if not impossible!) to get him to back down. While it can be his strength (enhanced endurance), it can be the bane of his existence, at least as far as others are concerned. He doesn't seem to know when to stop and can push things too far, his stubbornness often landing him in trouble. Arrogant The negative effect of his confidence, Toby can often come across as arrogant, overbearingly so. He likes to believe he is invincible but the harsh reality is that he isn't and no one really cares to hear about his over-exaggerated abilities (or lack thereof). Course he's convinced that it isn't arrogance since it is in fact true. Impulsive Toby is the kind of person who acts before thinking. While in some instances, this can be a good thing, most of the time it is not and he's likely to get himself in far too much trouble than he's capable of getting himself out of. He acts solely on instinct, often using his gut feeling to make any real decision. Short-tempered Toby is capable of being very aggressive and quick to anger. It doesn't take much to set off his fuse and once it's off, it usually ends in a fight if not doused quickly. It doesn't help that he'll often act without thinking when angry and he's made plenty of mistakes thanks to his temper. Reckless Much like his impulsive trait, Toby doesn't really consider the consequences of his actions and is the sort of fellow who likes to punch first, worry about it later. His confidence also makes him reckless when it comes to danger, never really realizing he's in too deep. He takes a lot of risk, especially when it concerns his own health, much to the misfortune of the nurses at the academy. DISLIKES Being touched This mostly concerns his ears and tail but he can be a bit sensitive to the whole touchy-feely thing as well. Not many people know why he's like this and he honestly prefers to keep it that way. Talking about his feelings As much as he likes to boast about himself, talking about the things going on in his head is a whole other matter. It's personal and if he needs to share, fine. Otherwise, he believes it should in fact remain personal and will often change the subject when it's brought up. His ears It's not so much he hates his ears and tail but he hates what they stand for and he hates that people actually fantasize about 'taking them away.' As such, he tends to hide them to make himself feel more comfortable. Fighting Really?! Shocker! Well it's more like he doesn't like needless fighting. In fact, he doesn't go out looking for a fight, it just happens. He's tried to talk his way out of a fight before, honest, but that only seemed to make it worse. Being bossed around He's a bit of a rebel and hates being told what to do. To be quite honest, he even hates the idea that he's predestined to be with a fighter, not fond of the idea of fate. But there's only so much rebelling he can do and you can bet your ass he'll take advantage of it. |
HISTORY Tobias was the sole child of the Briggs family, his parents having concieved him out of wedlock and married only because of his impending arrival. Still, he had to hand it to them, despite not having the intention initially, they did make it work and grew to enjoy each other's company. Or so it seemed at least. For nearly ten years of his childhood they stuck together, doing their best to put aside their differences and raise him, though of course they still fought, so much that Toby had started to think it was the norm. They never went further than shouting though, and usually made up by the next morning with smiling faces to greet him, but it all went wrong when his father went too far. An angry spouse decided that was the last straw, demanding a divorce and after a long and tiring arrangement, Toby and his mother moved on, his father's last piece of advice was to take care of his mother, issuing him as the man of the house. He'd never see him again. The two moved constantly, his mother always trying to find a good job to help them survive on their own. When all hope seemed lost and his mother was dealing with crippling depression, she met a man who was kind enough to offer aid and then some as the two ended up falling for each other. They started living with him and Toby was happy to see his mother was getting better. Enough so that he suffered the darker side of her new boyfriend without a single word, not wanting to see her sad again. It was until she started noticing some unaccountable injuries on her son that she became aware that something was amiss. And had she not stepped in, it might have been far too late. They were on the road again after Tobias' recovery, the incident, traumatic as it was, left behind in that town they'd never cross again. While his mother remembered, as much as she didn't want to, Tobias repressed those memories to the point he denies it had ever happened. Whether it's true or not is hard to understand, but he retained his aversion to his cat features, much to his mother's disapproval, but they both had agreed never to talk about it again and decided they could use a chance to start a new life. Their arrival at Karthaus, Massachusetts marked the start of their new life and not long after moving in to a small apartment was he invited to join Blackwood Academy. Deciding it would do him some good, he accepted the invite and joined, unaware of just what it was he was getting himself into. |
OTHER Tobias still has his ears and tail, though that's not exactly common knowledge due to the fact he tends to keep them hidden. Both are solid black, cat ears hidden well in his mess of hair. His tail on the other hand (which is kinked towards the end, appearing to have been broken/injured) is usually hidden beneath his clothing. Those rare few that do know about them are aware of the fact he does not like them being touched and for the most part respect his decision to not show them off. To the oblivious, however, it's simply misinterpreted as him having lost them and he has yet to object to being mistaken as an adult. After all, it's easier to play along than to explain what had caused his aversion to his ears. Despite being a sacrifice, Toby gets in a lot of fights on his own, just not of the spell sort. Due to his short temper and lack of skill when it comes to talking it out, violence seems to be the last resort and it's not unusual to find him covered in bandages after biting off more than he could chew. He's rather reluctant to the idea of having a fighter, not fond of the thought of someone having to fight for him. He's more than capable of fighting his own battles! Of course, he's been told time and time again that's not how it works. Doesn't stop him from trying though. As a sacrifice, he has exceptional durability when it comes to taking hits, of course this is not to the extent of a zero by any means but he can endure quite a bit before admitting defeat (probably thanks to his stubbornness as well). His fights may have something to do with it, seeming to have built up a tolerance for pain. His sexuality is still a mystery, even to himself and he's not sure exactly what it is he's attracted to. Due to a past incident, however, he's content with being alone, even if he has to keep his ears for the rest of his life. |
