Boooorrrriiiingggg.
When “hanging out” had been mentioned, who knew it’d translate to this: lying on the floor of his “soul mate’s” dorm in no more than a baggy tank-top and achromatic boxer shorts with legs hooked over the unoccupied bed all while tossing a ripened clementine up toward the ceiling. Repetitively.
Yes. This was some blood-pumping, adrenaline-rushing quality time.
What a joke. In all its round and vibrant glory, the clementine came hurdling down. Its textured body slapped in the open palm of Cinthos’ left hand. It stayed. And then it lowered – wrist pressed to ground – whilst chin rose in the meantime. From where he lounged, Cinthos stared at his lithe companion who was sitting atop his own bed.
Tail flicked impatiently. Ears twitched subconsciously. Waiting was such a nuisance. “I thought you said we were gonna ‘bond,’” the reclined figure finally chirped.

Truth be told, Kylin wanted to curl up and sleep. And maybe never wake up. Why did he think he could take on this whiny brat of a Sacrifice again? Why wasn't the other teen wearing anything anyway? God, someone just kill him now. Or not, he had to take responsibility for his own actions.
"Brat," he rumbled in a growl, "Could you be any less annoying?" From his spot by the wall, the earless Fighter blankly gazed out the window across from him, ignoring the splash of orange that kept coming and going from his vision.
As far as he was concerned, this was bonding time. Spending time in close proximity to your partner... Wasn't that what bonding was all about? Observing each other in their natural environments was part of the way to understanding each other, but if Cinthos was going to be so impatient about it and expect so much out of it, then it was the equivalent of being pushed away. At this point, the only option left would be...
No, that wasn't really something he wanted to think about. It was what had lost him his ears in the first place. Of course, Kylin knew he was disciplined enough to keep himself in check, especially since he wasn't particularly romantically inclined towards Cinthos.
"You want something to happen? Then fine, you asked for it. Don't blame me for whatever comes next."
In one, fluid motion, he had gotten off the bed and was kneeling beside his companion's head. Snatching the clementine out of the air, he leaned over the other boy and propped an arm besides black hair. Then, softly, he pressed their lips together. In this position, if he had moved too suddenly, he'd have probably bonked Cinth's nose with his chin, and that wasn't anything good. | 000 WORDS @cinthos MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ |

It wasn’t something that happened quickly like so many stories say, nor was it any slower than before. Change was expected to come and snatch away a fruit at play. And when Change came and took his toy away, a sulk didn’t even invade. His companion’s cast shadow was not at all alarming. For some reason, it felt like a thin blanket that provided the right amount of warmth. A challenge, one could say. Their eyes had met, free of weight, and provoked in that moment.
Taunting subconsciously. Swallowing in anticipation. Holding breath so tight that air could not escape. Couldn’t even close his eyes.
Right. Right… It should have been expected. It should have. It could have been prevented. It could have. But maybe… he just wanted a taste. Curiosity was to blame, not him. Innocent.
Kylin’s lips were soft, though a little crisp from the winter draught. The air Ky breathed out was warm enough to make skin pinch and muscles flinch. Lips twitch to reciprocate but mind thought better of it.
Well… this was quite the predicament.
Now time slowed. One breath felt like too many with airs intertwined. “Off,” he thought. “Get off.” Yet his own body didn’t quite comply.
Not until chin jeered away – nose clashing against Kylin in the meantime – and an allergy sort-of sensation tickled along his sinuses. Oh gods, please don’t sneeze! “Ugh”–a palm lapped over nose–“gross!” A quick, smooth reaction. Normal, so normal. Thankfully no sneezes came but the bridge of Cinthos’ nose (along with balling cheeks) festered an irritated red. “Please tell me that’s not what you meant!”
Kylin Wu: Welp... Cinthos decided to do differently, I guess. See how it goes? (And, lol, "yet." (; ) P.S. He cries gross but he liked it. *Whistles* ♡

The moment had been surprisingly fragile, softer than the kisses he'd had before. There was no anger, no amused indifference, just a lingering tenderness that he couldn't quite explain. Though the kiss was chaste, Kylin didn't wish to deepen it; the respite was more than he had expected or even wanted.
Then the kiss's recipient had crashed his nose into his neck, and in a blink, eternity departed. A distracting hum of noise only proceeded to make the now-memory more precious. Sitting up on his heels again, Kylin stared down at the—not yet his—Sacrifice with impassive gray eyes, expression unchanging as the other boy freaked out.
"And if it were?" he asked quietly in place of his usual irritated quip. "This is the truth of the bond you coveted."
Turning away, he flopped back on his bed. Somehow the teen managed to pull this off with grace, and he scrubbed a hand over his face, preparing himself for the wave of anger, denial, and whatever else would inevitably come. He'd warned him. But that didn't mean he was off the hook. Closing his eyes, he sighed; reprieve never lasted for long. | 000 WORDS @cinthos MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ |

And if it were… Those words resonated numbingly. Body lost its capacity. What was this sensation? It’s void. Entirely vacant. I can’t think… A breath burgeoned deep within this young man’s chest. It expelled shortly after springs creaked to Kylin’s weight. Strange… it sounded so far away. Finally, Cinthos animated. He sat up and stood. A nimble transaction. He couldn’t feel his legs or his deflating chest. The motions of his arms and hands fetching jeans were not his own. Someone else was guiding him and he simply accepted. What point was there to refute? They had a common goal. Wait– who? In such a blurred daze, Hyacinthos didn’t hear the door to his fighter’s room close behind him. The winter chill briskly biting at exposed skin went unnoticed. Maybe he was sleeping for he awoke to fractals of light drifting over an otherwise sooty ceiling. This is the truth of the bond you coveted.Kissing? A finger stroked over lip. Intimacy..? And then they pursed against the thenar. Eyes half-mast. If this is fate then I don’t want it.I don’t want it. ♡

Draping his arm over his eyes, Kylin sighed into the quiet room. Had he done right? ...At least it was the best he could do under the given circumstances. Not about to let his mind linger on it for much longer, he rolled over and burrowed under the covers. Perhaps he'd sleep on it.
Either way, Lorne was dumb to stumble out of the room half naked. People might talk.
--
The next day was a school day. Good thing Kylin hadn't planned on attending anyway. Smirking smugly to himself—inwardly of course, wouldn't want to frighten off his poor schoolmates—he took his time getting to the roof, savoring his freedom.
And the reproachful stares of the kids who'd realized what he was doing.
No wonder Lorne always ditched.
Inviting the Sacrifice via text had been a risky move, as after that kiss, it was more than likely that Lorne wouldn't show up at all. That's why Kylin had picked the roof; he could stay up there alone on the chance that the Sacrifice didn't come. He'd wait until lunch. If Lorne didn't appear by then... Well, sky-watching was great, but he had better things to do. | 000 WORDS @cinthos MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ |

“Did you hear?Hyacinthos Lorne was apparently caught leaving Kylin Wu’s dorm in no more than his underwear!” “In his underwear? I heard he ran out butt-naked!” “O-m’god! Do you think maybe…” The question that followed was heeded yet ignored. And as that skulking figure passed a group of gossiping girls in the hallway – fists jammed in pockets; watch swaying each step – they ceased their audible musings and giggled behind a veil of fingers. Their eyes were on him. Their imaginations thought about him. However, he was not the only star of this casting. The other was presumably waiting up on the roof. And this one would go to him. The next bell rang. Hallways were deserted as were the stair cases – which this one had trekked up at his own leisure. In no time he stood before the exit that would lead him out to open morning skies. And what more? Well, Kylin Wu – obviously. In matter of seconds, Hyacinthos Lorne was up on the roof under those spring-blue skies. Kylin Wu was clear in sight. “What did you want,” this one sighed wearily. He leant against the paint-chipped door which lead to inside. Arms crossed over rib and tail flicked once before dangling. It was a chilly morning. ♡

"You're late."
Turning away from the edge, Kylin sauntered towards the door and stopped in front of Lorne, Bird swooping down to join him. Stopping in front of the Sacrifice, he cast a speculative eye over him, looking for anything that might give away any sort of nervousness.
Slowly, Kylin loosened his tie.
"Well then," he said almost cordially—it'd be a cold day in hell when Kylin truly acted cordial—as Bird nestled in his hair. "Let's go; this place is boring enough as it is."
Stuffing the tie into his pocket, he reached out to grab the Junior's tail to drag him along by force if necessary. Just another reason why he'd wanted to get rid of the offending appendages. Then again, at least his had had the decency to stay sleek. | 000 WORDS @cinthos MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ |

Oh! How he howled! A ping of electricity rushed up his straightening spine whilst feet nimbly fumbled after the departing fighter. Ouch! And no matter how he bickered – impertinence resonating in the vacant stairway – his tail wouldn’t be freed.
It was the hostage to a very dubious plan.
Once out in town, Cinthos’ downy tail attempted to flick out of Kylin’s villainous grasp. Still, he stood, with an unamused glower scribed onto face. And for a breath’s moment, silence remained. Well, well, what brought them here? After a white German vehicle sped by, this one turned to look at his counterpart. Silence continued.
“Yo!”–he barked–“What the Hell?!”

Turning around, Kylin raised a brow, unsure of whether he should feel exasperated or amused by how long it had taken the Sacrifice to begin protesting. Should he be worried that Lorne had been so easy to... kidnap?
Unconcerned with the outburst, he stopped and turned to the Junior. "Unintelligent question," he advised with a drawl, hands absentmindedly tangling in the other boy's tail fur. "Try to be more specific."
Releasing the tail, Kylin instead linked his arm with his companion's, figuring it'd be easier to wrestle the other teen down the sidewalk if he did. Now that he was actually out here, he hadn't the faintest clue what they were going to do.
Something colorful drifted past the corner of his eye.
"Let's do that," he decided, already dragging Lorne towards the small costume shop at the street corner. | 000 WORDS @cinthos MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ |

“Fuck this!” A costume shop? An “unintelligent question?” “Try to specify?” As fur bristled out of ire, Lorne ceased his movements – ultimately holding his linked companion back. A moment where obstinacy became indomitable, and the moment thereafter was yanked out of chains. The distortion of this eared lad’s countenance didn’t exist. His visage was complacent, as if unfazed by the words he spat: “after last night, you dare continue mocking me?!” Alas, fingers curled into themselves till knuckles bore white. They then relaxed – resting idly by thigh. “I’m not into this, Kylin. Go treat somebody else as your shit-bag. I’m outta here.” Lorne thus promptly turned on the balls of his heels – fists now in pockets – and took the first step to retreat. ♡

The words didn't hurt.
At least he told himself they didn't hurt.
Because they weren't supposed to. He couldn't see the blades that flew at him, embedding themselves into his flesh, but he was conscious of them as keenly as he was of his sudden stillness. His wounds wouldn't bleed. No one would know, no one would see.
Least of all that Sacrifice.
"I am trying to enjoy myself," he explained calmly—almost flatly—pushing aside his hurt for cool indifference. Sentiment had always been such a troublesome thing, and he rolled his eyes. "If you were so offended, you needn't have come meet me."
Don't back off now. If you back off now—
Kylin already knew the answer to that.
Almost as an afterthought, he added, "Besides, I'm sure at least half the school thinks we're an item by now." Probably not the best thing to say under the given circumstances, but who would fault him for saying what was most likely a fact anyway?
Stopping but not pulling away, Kylin turned to stare at the Junior. As much as he wanted to throw his hands up in the air and stalk off fuming like an immature brat, he had to be patient. He couldn't act the same as he did weeks ago. Of the two of them, he was the more experienced in these matters, and if he didn't keep himself on a leash and play adult, then no one would, and their almost nonexistent bond would...
There was a reason he was made for this insultingly insufferable man.
He would not be chased away. To do so would be to dishonor himself, Lorne, and the name they shared. "Is there anywhere you want to go instead?" | 000 WORDS @cinthos MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ |

Inhale. Hold. Release. Anger dissipated from him as colour would drain from face. It was quick, as though a lemon-hinted breeze relieved him of the summer sun’s scorching heat. Leaving nothing in its wake, this boy remained without a shell. He stood still. On his own two feet.
“Why? For what reason were we apparently ‘fated’ together?"
A moment passed and Cinthos turned quarter way – confronting Kylin with a bland gaze. Mouth O’d words but sound delayed. Pause. Finally, he poured: “you’re cool, inscrutable. I’m hot, volatile. You’re poised and I’m shameless. Did you even notice our names don’t exactly match? They’re in different places. I’ve never seen that, have you?”–he breathed and averted sights–“And for your information, I’m not exactly dauntless. So you’ll only ever be disappointed in me.
“Knowing that,” in the midst of speech, hips shifted to contrapposto, “are you still wanting to spend the day with me?”

Kylin was thoroughly unimpressed. Perhaps the feelings he'd tried to transmit to the Sacrifice just hadn't been received? Maybe he just hadn't been clear enough? Was that what it was? Because where in the world did this insecurity come from, when the answer was so irritatingly obvious?
In an effort to keep the sheer exasperation out of his voice, Kylin flattened his tone into something more neutral, if not bland. "I asked you where you wanted to go," he said slowly, almost as if talking to a child. "What does that tell you?" What more affirmation did he need?
One step at a time though, they would (try to) take this one step at a time. This wasn't something that could be rushed. | 000 WORDS @cinthos MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ |
