HERE WE GO AGAIN. tobias really needed to stop getting into fights, especially if he didn't want to get in trouble with the academy. however, that was easier said than done and no fault but his own. he had a bad temper, sue him, it wasn't as if the other guys backed down either. of course, that sort of excuse would never work, so rather than go to the infirmary and deal with all the questions, he decided to just head to the dorms and take care of it himself. might have been a decent idea if he had any sort of medical training, but convinced that it was nothing but a scratch, he was confident he'd be fine. in any case, a bandaid would likely fix the issue. the common room was relatively empty at this hour, most either out enjoying the rest of the day or finishing off a shift at their part-time jobs. the few who were there hardly paid him any mind, which was nothing new since most people had avoided him since he started going here, especially those with their ears still. there was one good thing that came out of that at least, he supposed. it made situations like this much easier. as long as he kept to himself, he shouldn't be bothered. so that kept in mind, he made his way to the less occupied end of the room, out of open view and in a corner where chances of someone bumping into him were less likely. having sat down without a word, toby pulled up the sleeve of his jacket, revealing the bloodied knuckles that were hidden beneath. he either gave a really good left hook or he punched a brick wall. either way, the dying adrenaline rush was starting to make it slightly more painful he realized as he flexed his fingers. aside from his knuckles, the nose bleed had finally stopped sometime on his way back home and the darkening bruises here and there were nothing to really fret over as far as he was concerned. all in all, he came to the conclusion he came out pretty alright compared to how shitty he was convinced the other guy was looking right now. he was just going to be a little sore for the next few days. | Straight from your mouth and right through my backbone |

my heart beats so fast it feels like its lastHe hated the cold with a burning passion. It was in the winter months that the blonde missed his home in California more than he could put into words. Why his elder brother would choose to live here of all places when he actually had a choice was beyond him. Sure he was closer and that was nice, but still. Ezra wouldn’t have wished it on anyone, really. The people who walked around in the frigid temperatures like it was nothing never ceased to amaze him. He was wearing a thick jacket, a hoodie, and a sweater under the hoodie and he could still feel the cold biting mercilessly through his layers. He took the last couple of steps to the door quickly, pulling it open and stepping into the heated room with a soft sigh. He wouldn't have to leave again tonight, thankfully, so he could warm up and get finished with some homework.
Of course, such plans would be destined to fall through. It seemed like life always wanted to throw the senior curveballs, and tonight was no exception. Somehow his eyes seemed to land almost automatically on the younger male who had taken a seat a little ways across the room. Perhaps it was the tender movements of the other that hinted at pain that made him notice, perhaps it was just chance, but once he’d noticed there was really no going back. He watched as the raven-haired male pulled back his sleeve and winced at the sight of those knuckles. It was quite clear the kid had been fighting, but that wasn’t really his focus at the moment. He needed to be cleaned up. Keeping wounds clean – even small ones – was very important.
He made his way over to the other male, his feet moving before he had even made the conscious decision. It was in Ezra’s nature to help people, he simply couldn’t stand to leave someone alone if they looked like they were in any kind of pain. “That looks pretty nasty.” He told the black-haired boy as he sat down across from him. At a closer range he could see the bruises that were blooming on the teen’s features and the remnants of the nosebleed. “May I?” He questioned, holding his hand out toward the other male’s hand so he could get a closer look at those knuckles. Really they would probably need to go to his dorm and get his first aid kit or something, but he would bring that up later. trying to savor up the moments until it goes flat coded by fudge of gs

HE WAS FAR TOO FOCUSED on being careful now to notice someone else had entered the room, nor did he notice that the very person was actually watching. had that been the case, he might have moved on and headed to his room before it got into some discussion he would rather avoid, or at the very least hidden the evidence. he was not aware of his presence until he'd stopped right in front of him, confused blue eyes lifting to face the older student as he sat across from him. he allowed the sleeves to fall again, balling his hand into fists again with a slight wince as he attempted to hide the bloodied knuckles. of course, there was no use as he'd evidently spotted them. at the very least, he didn't seem to be wanting to cause trouble, and toby didn't have the opportunity to chat with other students all that often anyway, so he decided not to brush him off, giving a sly smirk instead. "you should see the other guy." he said, quiet enough that only the two of them could hear. last thing he needed was some snitch running to a teacher. "it's just a scratch." he continued, playing it cool as usual though it seemed a bit strained, the young man a bit tired from the whole endeavor, evidenced by half-lidded eyes. still, he tried to maintain his usual energy and play it off like it was nothing. the guy didn't seem all that interested in tales, however, instead asking for... his hand? tobias looked a bit hesitant as he looked from him to his outstretched hand. "er...okay?" he offered, confusion evident as he pulled his sleeve up just enough to show them off again, holding his hand out for him to see, though not so obvious that anyone else who might wander in could. he'd just assumed the guy wanted to get a closer look. he, of course, didn't realize his intention. "see?" he began, moving each digit tenderly in a rhythm. "not too bad." only it actually stung a bit every time he stretched the broken skin over his knuckles, but he couldn't actually say that. he had to prove he was tough, after all. | Straight from your mouth and right through my backbone |

my heart beats so fast it feels like its lastHe hadn’t really been sure what to expect when he sat down across from the younger student. It was rather clear that the black-haired male had been fighting, and so Ezra had to assume he either had a bad temper or bad luck. Either way, thoughts that he might not react favorably hadn’t stopped Ezra from approaching him, and when that smirk was given, he relaxed slightly. At least it didn’t seem like the other male was wanting to pick a fight with him. All he wanted to do was make sure that the kid was okay. Of course, upon hearing those words, he found himself slightly worried about the other fighter as well. He pushed those worries away, though. He couldn’t help the other guy, but he could help this one. Who started it hardly mattered, really.
As that hand was finally held out, he had to frown a bit. He wasn’t exactly here to admire the wounds so much as he was trying to treat them. “Stop that.” He murmured, grabbing the boy’s fingers gently to make them cease their movement. “You’re gonna break the skin open more.” He went on to explain, looking up from the knuckles for a moment to smile gently. Thereafter he would look back down. They really weren’t too bad, nothing that wouldn’t heal up eventually, but he was quite certain the raven-haired male would be thankful for some bandages and Neosporin. They had to hurt more than he was letting on.
Finally he let go of the fingers and scooted forward on his chair, trying to get a better look at the other’s bruises. “Are you hurt anywhere else?” He questioned. There was little he could do for the bruises, but he could issue Band-Aids and cream for any other cuts or scrapes that the kid had. His red eyes left the younger man for a second to scan the room before they returned to him. Ezra wasn’t interested in seeing the kid get into trouble, not at all.

HE WAS DURABLE so the movement wasn't too bad as far as pain was concerned, only being unpleasant at any rate. however, when the older fellow grabbed his fingers in an attempt to stop them from moving, toby couldn't help but flinch slightly, not so much because of pain but habit. he still was rather odd about being touched and while he had a feeling that the other student's intentions were good (he hoped so, at least) he still couldn't help himself. thankfully, he didn't react too harshly that his aversion would be obvious as he remained in the other's grip, averting his eyes as he gave a small pout at the scolding, blue eyes returning to catch a gentle smile. well it was clear that he wasn't simply wanting to admire his 'battle scars', the blonde seeming genuinely concerned about his injuries.to be quite honest, tobias wasn't all that fond of being taken care of, having a strong sense of independence and firmly believing he didn't need to be babied. the gesture was at least appreciated, but not desired. fortunately, by this time his hand had been released and the dark-haired male retracted it, covering the damage once more. he should have known that wouldn't have been the end of it though as the senior had even scooted closer, questioning him more about any other possible injuries. was this guy a new nurse or something? no. he looked a bit too young to be in that profession, though he certainly behaved like one. it kind of made him unsure about his intentions again but he shrugged it off, not intending to stick around much longer anyway."woah! damn," he laughed, honestly surprised by how this guy was behaving. he was pretty sure they hadn't met before so he couldn't understand why he was so worried about a complete stranger. "i'm fine, i swear," he insisted with a smile, holding his hands up in a defensive manner. "believe me, i've dealt with far worse." and that wasn't an exaggeration sadly, but he wasn't about to delve into that anytime soon. he just needed to wash off the blood, maybe find a way to wrap his knuckles and get some rest and he was certain he'd be as good as new and it was this belief that stood him up with a groan.yes it was about time to get going before this guy got too worried and tried to treat him. "thanks for your concern, but it's not that big of a deal to fuss over, really." he continued, hoping it'd convince him to give up. "i'll go sleep it off and you wont even recognize me later!" he said with a cheesy grin, turning on his heels to leave. | Straight from your mouth and right through my backbone |

my heart beats so fast it feels like its lastEzra had noticed that flinch, honestly, but he simply assumed that he was gripping the kid’s fingers too hard or something. It never occurred to him to think that there might be another reason for it. Despite having been more or less ignored by his father, the blonde had had a very ideal childhood and it rarely occurred to him to assume that other people might not have. Sure, he knew it happened, but he never automatically jumped to the conclusion either. Despite his pessimism in most things, the man had a tendency to not know or understand the worst of things from his rather sheltered upbringing. His eyebrows knitted together slightly when that laugh was given. Why was he laughing? Was he uncomfortable? Or honestly amused? Ezra supposed it could be both, though in his opinion there was no need for laughter in such a situation. A frown pulled slightly at his features. The blonde had a million flaws, he was far from perfect, but his intentions were pure here. He simply wanted to help the other boy out, it was in his nature. It made him feel good to help other people, and that was the only reward he needed for it. “That’s unfortunate.” He stated with a concerned frown at the raven-haired male’s assertion that he had been hurt worse in the past. Ezra assumed it was probably from fighting by the looks of it, but he wasn’t here to judge. He stood up fluidly as the younger boy turned to leave, stepping in front of him in the least domineering way he could manage. He didn’t want the black haired male to feel trapped, but he didn’t want him to go to bed without properly cleaning himself up, either. “I’m afraid I absolutely will remember your face in the morning, what kind of person do you think I am?” He questioned, tilting his head slightly. Ezra was good at remembering faces, especially when he met someone under these kinds of circumstances. “Just let me wrap your knuckles up and I’ll leave you alone.” He bargained. Really he would have liked to treat any other wounds, but he would take what he could get. “Deal?” He tilted his head slightly, smiling a bit, though the smile seemed a little more forced than it had been before. Really, the blonde couldn’t have told the other male just why he cared so much. By all rights he shouldn’t. By all rights he should have walked right past the kid and got started on his homework, and yet here he was. -- Tobias Briggs trying to savor up the moments until it goes flat coded by fudge of gs

THE SENIOR WAS KIND OF MOODY. he went from frowning to smiling and back again to the point that toby was finding it difficult to keep track of. still, he didn't seem to be bad company and he'd like to think he had a good judge of character. his only flaw, which really wasn't even a flaw, was that he was far too concerned about something he didn't think was worth it. of course the younger man didn't help any by telling him he had worse experiences, but he didn't let that bother him, shrugging off his comment about it being unfortunate. he was used to it so, again, it really wasn't that big of deal.the feeling wasn't mutual, however, and toby nearly jumped in surprise to find the older student had suddenly materialized right in front of him. in fact, he wasn't even sure how he'd managed to move that fast and had to take a second glance to where he'd previously been sitting to be sure that it wasn't just an illusion. returning his focus back to him however, toby frowned a bit, not exactly comfortable about him insisting like this, but fortunately too tired to cause much of a ruckus. he didn't realize the guy would take it so personally though, or why he was so adamant about it, but it is what it is, he supposed. it could be worse, the guy could just run off to find a nurse if he really wanted to."really taking this seriously," he muttered, unable to tell if he was annoyed or impressed by his stubbornness. the deal required him sucking up his pride and letting him take care of him, a deal he wasn't all that fond of. did he really wanna challenge that perseverance? even if he did, the risk was still there, that he'd run off and get him in trouble and he didn't need any trouble with the teachers.taking these things into consideration, he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck with his uninjured hand. "you're not gonna let up are you?" he questioned with a quirk of his brow. much as he wanted to flat out say no and take his chances, toby decided to be nice and accept the deal. "fine. just the knuckles." not at all happy about it, but too tired to argue, he decided this would be a one time thing and he'd never have to deal with it again. hopefully. | Straight from your mouth and right through my backbone |

my heart beats so fast it feels like its lastHe knew that he was being pushy and possibly annoying, he really did. It was just that when the blonde got something in his head he wasn’t going to give it up without a fight. And right now his focus was bandaging the younger student’s knuckles. So, unfortunately for the raven-haired male, he wasn’t about to drop it. “I am very serious about it.” He affirmed, raising one of his hands to twirl some of his hair between his fingers. He really didn’t see why it was such a big deal anyway, but he was grateful. He knew the kid could be causing a much larger problem if he really wanted to. He could have made one hell of a scene, not that it would have mattered anyway. Ezra still would have been insistent on treating him, but they would both probably get into trouble. And he definitely didn’t want that. The last thing he wanted was for the other boy to get into trouble. He wasn’t one to turn to authority figures for help. He had never really had a bad experience with them, but he liked to work out his own problems – most of the time he didn’t want help. He wanted to help people, but he hated feeling like a burden. Quite unfortunately he rather ignored the fact that other people probably felt this way too and he forced his help on them anyway. He smiled a bit and seemed to relax slightly when the dark-headed man agreed to his terms. “Just the knuckles.” He agreed. Ezra was usually pretty bad at choosing his battles, and honestly he was fighting the urge to try and insist on treating the rest of the wounds too. He had a hard time knowing when to stop, but at least in this case he understood this was the best he was going to get. “I have a first aid kit in my room.” He told the other, turning to walk toward the stairs to get to his dorm. “My name is Ezra, by the way.” He went on to introduce himself. -- Tobias Briggs trying to savor up the moments until it goes flat coded by fudge of gs

CONFIRMING HIS THOUGHTS, the dark haired teen was sort of glad to have not started an argument, though had he been in a better shape, he certainly might have gotten a bit more frustrated and possibly caused trouble. not that the man deserved it of course, his heart was in the right place, tobias just wasn't all that good at cooperating, especially when it's doing something he definitely doesn't want to. when he felt challenged, be that intentionally or not, he did tend to go off without thinking. thankfully, that wouldn't be the case this cold afternoon. after agreeing to the condition, toby looked far less cheery than he did before. it seemed silly, but he hoped no one else had been paying attention. he was a sacrifice after all and should be used to the treatment by now but he didn't really want that and often rebelled against it when given the chance. but if it made this oddly kind senior happy, or at the very least got him off his back, then he would be willing to deal with it. who knows? maybe they could end up friends. he sure could use them. ah, but he shouldn't be getting too far ahead of himself, he supposed. snapped out of his thoughts, focus returned to the blonde as he mentioned a first aid kit in his room, heading off towards the stairs and toby, reluctantly, followed suit, tucking his hands in his jacket's pockets. why was he not surprised by the fact he had one? he was just more convinced that he was a nurse and couldn't help but smirk to himself at the thought of the older student in a nurse outfit. "ezra..." he repeated to himself under his breath, trying to figure out if he'd heard the name before. didn't ring any bells right away. after a second or so he decided to introduce himself, "i'm toby." he offered. my heart beats so fast it feels like its lastHe could tell that the other male was slightly mopey, but hopefully they could move past that after a bit. He knew it wasn’t any fun getting bossed around even if he hadn’t been much in his life. No, being the second-born son he had basically be allowed to do anything as long as it didn’t bring shame on the family. His elder brother had been kept so busy, as well, that it was him who had developed ‘firstborn syndrome’. Which was basically why he was so over protective, coddling, and bossy. But hey, at least the kid was gonna follow him to his room. He had half expected the younger boy to try and run off again.
“Toby.” He repeated. The name wasn’t familiar at all, but it was rather cute. Not that he would say that out loud, of course. He had the feeling that Toby might not respond to that too favorably – or maybe he would and Ezra just didn’t have a good read on him yet. That was entirely possibly, after all, he hadn’t known him for more than fifteen minutes. “The situation could have been better.” He agreed softly, “But I’m glad to have met you all the same~” He went on to say with a warm smile. Despite his rather friendly personality, Ezra didn’t have a huge amount of friends. He could be overbearing to say the least of things. “What grade are you in?” He questioned casually as they made their way up the stairs toward his room.
They would continue their ascent of the stairs, eventually coming to a stop on the fourth floor. He led the way toward the dorm that happened to belong to him. His keys were fished easily out of his pocket as he slid them in and unlocked the door. He pushed it open and stepped inside, gesturing for Toby to follow him. The far side of the room was so clean that it look as though no one even used it, so obviously that side was his. He walked further into the room and slipped his jacket off, hanging it on a hook on the wall before he squatted down to remove the kit from under his bed. “Could you sit down on the bed and roll your sleeve up, please?” He asked, tilting his head toward his bed with a kind smile.

MOPEY WAS PUTTING IT LIGHTLY, toby was kicking himself for giving up so easily and couldn't even begin to explain why that was. sure, he was in pain and a bit sleepy at this point but it wasn't necessarily like him to not put up a fight. maybe it was because ezra was nice and even his stubborn attitude wouldn't allow him to screw up the potential for a friend. regardless, while he wasn't exactly pleased with how this went down, he prayed it went by quickly and that, if they were to keep in contact, they'd never have to talk about it again. but, of course, that was just tobias being a bit over dramatic. when ezra expressed being happy about meeting him regardless of how it came about, the younger student gave a small smile, sort of regretting it all less. this guy was nice. almost too nice to the point that toby could hardly believe it but he didn't go as far to question it. he didn't have much friends, especially any around his age due to his lack of ears (which only surprised him more because this guy still had his), so when someone was actually being nice to him, he certainly didn't want to ruin it by being rude. so he'd try not to. that was a lot of emphasis on try. "tenth" he answered simply at first before going on to elaborate. "probably would have been a junior if i'd paid more attention to class when i was younger." he admitted with a sheepish grin. not that he'd planned on being held back but you play the cards you're dealt. "how about you? pretty sure i haven't seen you in any of my classes." he explained. at the very least he knew he couldn't have been younger. he looked young, sure, but not that young. of course while he was making idle chatter, toby was scanning this side of the dorm curiously. he'd never been in massey before, not having any real reason to go into the fighter dorms. it didn't look too much different though, which he found surprising for some reason. when they'd finally arrived at the other's room, toby came to the realization that there was no turning back now and was half tempted to escape while he still had the chance. in fact, he was eyeballing the stairwell as ezra unlocked the door. before he could even attempt to go through with it though, he'd already opened it and gestured him to follow. were his ears visible, the blonde might have noticed them droop a bit but tobias reluctantly followed after him, scanning the room all the while. he was just a little bit nosy though fortunately suppressed the urge to look through his (and the roommates) stuff, brought to full attention when he'd directed him to sit. pout returning, the black haired teen sat down with a huff, determined to be difficult if he wouldn't outright refuse his kind gesture it seemed. though he did oblige in any case, rolling up the sleeve and revealing the knuckles in full once again. they were still bleeding a bit, evidenced by the blood he found on the inside of his sleeves as he'd gotten them out of the way, but given their state, a little blood was to be expected. "so..." toby began, looking to break the silence. "do you drag beat up kids to your room often?" he joked. well he knew for a fact that neither he or his roommate had a first aid kit in their room so if he were to answer yes he wouldn't be too surprised. | Straight from your mouth and right through my backbone |

my heart beats so fast it feels like its lastEzra listened as the younger boy explained what grade he was in. So he had failed a grade, then? Well, personally, the blonde probably would have died if he’d failed a grade at any point in his life, but he wasn’t going to judge Toby for her. He knew, however loosely, that sometimes shit happened. He tried not to allow it to happen in his life, but yes. He tried very hard not to hold people to the same standards he held himself – even if he always ended up failing in that endeavor. “I’m a senior~” He answered when the question was reciprocated. “It’s unfortunate that we’re not in the same grade, you seem like you’d be nice to have classes with.” He said warmly.
Thereafter they would arrive in his room, and he busied himself with digging out the first aid kit. He was pleased when Toby sat down without any complaining. Obviously he heard that huff, but the kid could have been a lot more difficult if he had wanted to. Ezra moved across the room and plopped down in his computer chair, rolling over to Toby so he was sitting in front of him. He popped open the kit as that jibe was made, and he looked up for a moment with a smirk. “Well, they don't always have to be beat up.” He stated as he raised his eyebrows playfully. Truthfully, Ezra didn’t often have people in his dorm.
His ears twitched slightly as he lowered his gaze once again and pulled up a pair of gloves from the kit, sliding them on with practiced ease. He had treated plenty of his kid-siblings scrapes and bruises in the day – and he always wore gloves. It was just more sanitary. Thereafter he opened an alcohol swab and took Toby’s hand gently in his own, cleaning the blood up from his fingers and whatnot before placing it off to the side and opening another. “This is gonna sting a bit.” He warned softly, dabbing the bloody knuckles with the swab gently.

SO HE WAS CORRECT IN HIS ASSUMPTION. that didn't happen all that often, despite toby being certain he was a good judge of character, so the victory was celebrated in his head, his body far too weary to dance around like a fool today. he smirked however when the older boy expressed how he'd have liked to been in the same class. "of course i would!" he proclaimed in a cocky manner, though toned it down a bit as his smile softened. "i'm sure you'd be cool too... when you aren't nagging me about a few little cuts." he would tease. having sat down and made a playful jibe, the sophomore was rather unprepared for the retaliation, not entirely sure how to feel about that suggestive look or the seemingly innocent words said with it. or maybe he was just reading too much into it. regardless, he simply rolled his eyes, trying his best to pretend his face hadn't heated up slightly over what could have been a misunderstanding. fortunately, or unfortunately, the treatment would begin and hopefully change the subject before he got himself too riled up. toby tilt his head as he curiously watched ezra snap on some gloves. "what?" he began with a chuckle. "scared of getting cooties?" he asked playfully. oh it was a joke now, but the mere mention of cooties brought pure terror to the whole playground when he was a child. he was quite positive he was clean, however, though after looking at himself he supposed he did look rather messy with all the blood and dust from the little brawl he'd been a part of. course he'd quieted down once the alcohol swab was produced and his hand trapped in his grip again. didn't matter how durable you were, alcohol on an open wound hurt like hell. thankfully, he didn't go straight for the cuts, instead cleaning the blood off first, though the longer he waited, the more painful he imagined the inevitable contact would be. it didn't help that ezra warned him about it either. "..let's just get it over with." he sighed, already wincing a bit in preparation. the first dab was the worst, toby hissing as he nearly tugged his hand out of ezra's grip, but forced himself to relax, biting his lip. now that he'd gotten a taste of it, it would hurt less and it did in fact gradually die down with each dab to where he could tolerate it, though beneath his layer of clothing, his hidden tail had managed to fluff up from the experience. | Straight from your mouth and right through my backbone |

my heart beats so fast it feels like its lastThat cocky response earned a bit of a smirk from the blonde. So that’s how it was, eh? He might have been able to guess that the other boy was a bit cocky from their interactions, but he didn’t mind. It was quite amusing, and it was nice when people were confident anyway. Unless it was pseudo-confidence, which was entirely possible as well. He didn’t know Toby well enough to make any informed assumptions about him, after all. “I am not a nag.” He insisted, sticking his tongue out a bit. Actually, Ezra was rather aware of the fact that he was a nag. But that didn’t always have to be a bad thing, did it?
He raised his eyebrows slightly at the color that came to the dark-haired male’s cheeks, but he forgot about it soon enough when that comment on cooties was given. He snorted and rolled his eyes. “You can never be too careful, though. We just met, and I’m not taking any chances.” He stuck his tongue out, but he would become serious soon enough when the time to clean the wound came. He frowned slightly when he heard Toby hiss as he pressed the swab to his knuckles. He didn’t want to hurt him, but of course that was just part of it. There was nothing he could to do to make the alcohol hurt less other than being gentle, which of course he was. “Sorry.” He muttered as he continued to dab the knuckles until he felt they were clean enough.
Thereafter, he placed the dirty swab over next to the other one. “There.” He stated, looking up to the other male and smiling before he dug some Neosporin out of the first aid kit. He squeezed some out onto his fingers and rubbed it gently into the wound before he grabbed some gauze and started the process of wrapping the knuckles. Once he was finished with that, he would sit back and smile. “Not too bad, eh?” He teased lightly, removing his gloves and gathering the trash. “Do you want a clean shirt?” He went on to ask.

EZRA WASN'T A NAG? well he supposed he could have been jumping the gun on assumptions but he didn't think his judgement of his character was too far off, considering he wouldn't leave him alone until toby allowed him to treat his wounds. that was kind of naggy, he thought. of course, it didn't matter at all if it was correct or not. it had already been settled. as far as he was concerned, ezra was in fact a nag. but so far, not unbearably so. there was that at least. tobias wasn't sure how he felt when the older student voiced his reasoning, pointing out how they had just met and how it was better to be safe than sorry. "i'm not that bad." he scoffed, not as offended as he was trying to make himself appear. he wasn't diseased as far as he was aware, but he decided to drop it nonetheless, attention more focused on the swab of alcohol as it threatened to dab away at the cuts. slowly but surely, the pain would subside, though the dark haired teen continued to bite his lip till his knuckles had been properly cleaned. they still didn't look good, but they certainly looked much better now that the blood was wiped off. he, thankfully, didn't decide to test the pain again by moving his fingers, knowing well enough that ezra would only nag him for tearing the skin again. and, quite frankly, he didn't want to give the guy any more of an excuse to keep playing doctor. after a much less painful process of applying the ointment and bandages, toby pulled back his hand and gave it a look, now testing the limits and finding his movement only a bit limited (he had a feeling that might have been intentional). it wasn't too inconvenient but definitely something he'd have to get used to. at least until it healed anyway. "yeah, yeah." he rolled his eyes, smirking playfully. "don't get too cocky now." like he could say much. he appreciated it though, really, as much as he hated depending on anyone. unexpectedly, however, ezra had went on to offer a change of shirt. it did look a bit dirty and he was pretty sure that blood stain wasn't there before. but as tempting as the offer was, he was reminded of the puffed up tail curled around his torso and how it'd be difficult to hide if he were to have to change right now. "aaah~" he began, rubbing the back of his head again. "nah, i'm good." he answered with a lopsided smile. "besides, i doubt you want any of my cooties." he went on again, reminding the other teen how dirty he might have been. | Straight from your mouth and right through my backbone |
